Orang Utan Island
An island dedicated to the preservation of endangered primates

No need to travel to Borneo to visit the Orang Utans! We have these primates residing right here!

Tucked away in this 7,000-acre lake, the Orang Utan Island serves as a breeding ground, as well as a research and education center. At present, there are 21 Orang Utans inclusive of babies residing at the Island.

You can take the ferry from the main jetty, to view the orang utans in their natural habitat. Upon arrival, you will be taken through a 100-meter steel walk-through cage to come up, close and personal with these primates.

In order to increase the population of the primates, as well as to provide veterinary care for infant Orang Utans, due to improper maternal care, an Infant Care Unit (ICU) was specially set up on the island. This is to ensure that they can eventually adapt to the natural environment and have a higher survival rate.

The 3-acre Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Ecopark houses more than 40 species of local and exotic birds, different species of reptiles and mammals and other unique attractions within our educational walk-in enclosure.
